Jacobus Henricus van’t Hoff was the first person to highlight Stereochemistry.
For his work in rates of chemical reaction, chemical equilibrium, and osmotic pressure, he was awarded the first Nobel prize in chemistry in 1901.
His famous work includes Le Bel-van’t Hoff rule of predicting the number of stereoisomers., van’t Hoff equation, relating the change in equilibrium constant with the change in temperature, van’t Hoff factor to detect whether a compound will undergo dissociation or association and many more.
